SUCCESS ISN’T RATED BY WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU.

- IKECH CHIMUANYA EMMANUEL.

It is impossible to please everyone. Your charisma and personality may attract some and as well, turn off other people. No matter how good you are, some people will still talk bad about you. Be who you are, people will certainly judge you no matter what you do. To unleash academic success, you have to pay deaf ears to what people say about you most time. Most successful people have been through criticism in one way or the other. Your success or failure is not rated by what they say. Ignore them and work towards your goal. Nothing worthwhile can ever be accomplished by listening to opinion of others. Don’t live your life to placate anyone. Trying to please everyone is a key to failure. Don’t let anyone obfuscate your sparkle.

No matter how hard you are working, there are certainly people who will sabotage your effort. What other people are saying about you is none of your business. No matter what they say, just be yourself, and chase your dreams. Don’t let your enthusiasm be incarcerated by others opinion. Anthony Hopkins postulates “my philosophy is, it’s none of my business what people say of me or think of me. I am what I am, and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.”

Live for yourself and not for others; don’t try to live for people’s applause. “If you live by peoples praise, then you will die by their criticism” an adage says “if everyone likes what you are doing, you are doing it wrong. I am not saying you should ignore succinctly people’s opinion about you. At times you can grow from such criticisms but don’t let it quench your taste for progressive academic achievement. Don’t let negative talks about you define and discourage you. Keep on chasing your goal amidst their criticism.

Akin Olukun advices “develop a strong opinion about yourself so that you don’t accidentally start believing what others say about you.”

Do what makes you happy so far as it’s something good. If you are a student, don’t be discouraged from studying because of the bad impression your teacher or friend has created over you. They may say you won’t graduate with a commendable grade point. Don’t be discouraged. It’s for you to decide your fate not them. Don’t assimilate such depressing and demoralizing statement. Instead of been dissuaded by such comments, it should spur you to action.

Successful people build on their criticism. When criticized, they use it as an evaluation and thus improve their life. When people say ill things about you, you should only be worried if such statement is axiomatic. But if there is no fact in what they say, ignore it and move on. Let them talk. Their talk is not going to affect you in anyway if you stay strong. Your failure or success won’t be determined by what they say. Making marks in life must attract erasers. They would want to criticize you, tarnish your image or rather commit calumny. Don’t descend to their level, let them talk, that is where they belong. Their calumny will be wiped away by the sands of your success.

I enjoy it whenever I see people talking bad about me. From there I can know my ills and work towards improvement. But I will never let such insignificant statement deter me from pursuing after my goal.

REMEMBER;

 “it is impossible to please everyone. Even Jesus had haters.” The secret of failure remains trying to please everyone.
